In the spring of 2020, the new station "Takanawa Gateway" on the Yamanote Line opened for the first time in about half a century. Based on the concept of "Global Gateway Shinagawa", it has a Japanese design where you can feel Japanese culture and tradition everywhere.　Robots, AI, and service equipment with the latest technology are installed in the station premises. It will attract attention as a spot where history is linked to the future and new things are created one after another. Full-scale opening is scheduled around 2024. Along with the completion time of the entire station, urban infrastructure in the surrounding area is being rapidly developed. As the surrounding environment continues to change drastically, it is expected that the new flow of people will develop the city and create a more convenient and comfortable space.

Mita Takanawa is a historical area with traces of people living since the Jomon period. In the Edo period, daimyo residences lined up and many temples were built. Since the door to international exchange was opened at the end of the Edo period, many of the sites that were confiscated from the former Daimyo family were provided as embassy sites. It has been passed down to the embassies, mansions, university campuses, etc., while still retaining its features. Once you step into the alley, you can enjoy a space where old and new are blended, with some shops that are nostalgic and some that incorporate the latest trends. The Mita Takanawa area has grown into an office district and continues to reborn based on a new station. One of the attractions is that you can feel the changes of the times while taking a walk.

The Japanese government aims to become a tourism-oriented Japan with the goal of "60 million foreign visitors to Japan in 2030". To realize our goals, it is essential to enhance our environmental facilities to accept foreign visitors to Japan. With good access to Haneda Airport, where the number of international flights is increasing, Shinagawa through Tamachi area is expected to become an international business hub. Various city functions such as convention/conferences for international conferences, international standard accommodation/residential facilities, and educational facilities are being introduced. The opening of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen is scheduled for 2027, and Shinagawa Station has been decided as the starting station. With better accessibility, it will become an internationally attractive place as a gateway connecting the world and Japan.
